Hospitality management has become one of the most
lucrative careers worldwide for the past years – West
Negros University’s curriculum has advanced through
these changes to address the pressing need of the
industry.
Mr.
Guido Nijssen, WNU-HM consultant stated that with the
opening of the full-working commercial restaurant on
February 12, 2010. It will equip the HM students with
the knowledge and international skills based on
classical kitchen. He explained that the restaurant will
provide them the venue to be trained with
internationally accepted style of working, specifically
on the technical aspects, basic preparation of making
stocks, sauces, and international dishes, among others.
Nijssen assured that after four years of being in the
university, a WNU-HM graduate can a start his/her own
restaurant of the same caliber. The students will
fulfill the standards of hospitality expected by guests
in any international establishments, and also in the
background work every
management professional should be
capable of doing
He
underscored that students will be trained how to be the
best cook and waiter within the first two years of being
enrolled; after which, in the third year they will be
directed to become chefs, sous-chefs. And in the fourth
year, they will undergo 1200 hours of real management
trainings as: restaurant managers, food and beverages
managers and front office managers, among others.
Eventually, WNU-HM graduates will be highly- qualified
in
hospitality management. That will enable
them to take on a variety of hospitality jobs with
confidence, education and experience; an ideal ground
for potential industry leaders.
