Adobo
Festival
Added: November 04, 2008
Adobo
is
not just a cuisine, a menu or a formula, it identifies a
Filipino. Anywhere in the world, where there is a
Filipino, there is adobo. As all agree: Adobo is "Tatak
Pinoy."
WNU was made a venue of last year's celebration "Adobo
Festival 2007". Spearheaded by the Negros Cultural
Foundation, it was a showcase of the excellent taste of
Negrenses. It brought adobo to food prominence as the
ultimate main course in a Filipino meal.
The occasion was witnessed by some Tourisim officials
headed by no less than Ms. Gemma Cruz Araneta, and
leading Bacolod restaurateurs and connoisseurs.
This year's Adobo Festival Celebration will take off
with a Song and Dance Contest in WNU campus on November
4, 2008. The Festival theme song and dance, as initiated
by WNU will make a distinctive mark on creativity
fostering local talents.
It will be culminated by the Adobo Cooking Contest in
Balay Negrense in Silay City on November 5, 2008. There
will be seminars and lectures about the adobo culinary
experience. The Adobo Festival is one tourist
attraction, one would never miss.
The Foundation had recognized the University as a
reliable partner for the propagation of Filipino values
and tradition, with WNU closely working with the Negros
Cultural Foundation for these activities. The group that
will spearhead the activities in WNU campus is the BSHM
Department under the College of Business and Management.
In addition to exposures in Events Management and
Culinary Arts, the cooking contest and seminars are
bonuses for BSHM students.
